Which product and configuration should I select when placing my order?

Product selection

After selecting the product and uploading your print files, choose the appropriate print product. The key factor is the type of finishing required for your prints.

Depending on the product, different materials, finishing options and post-processing services are available.

CAD plans with small-format attachments

This product is suitable for orders where CAD plans are to be printed together with small-format documents, such as reinforcement schedules or other supporting documents. The range of available materials and finishing options is more limited, but all documents can be combined in a single order.

CAD plans

This product is intended for orders containing CAD plans only. Compared with the option including small-format attachments, it offers a wider selection of materials, folding methods and mounting options.

Small format printing

This product is intended for orders containing small-format documents only. It is suitable for documents that do not include any large-format plans.

Architectural Competition

Select this product for documents submitted as part of an architectural competition. These orders are subject to specific quality requirements and conditions tailored to competition submissions.

Graphic large-format print

This product is intended for high-quality poster and graphic printing. A range of premium materials is available, and printing is carried out in photo quality.

Item configuration

Once you have selected the product, you can configure the individual items.

In the left-hand section, you can apply settings to all uploaded files at the same time. In the right-hand section, you can define individual settings for each file.

The default configuration reflects the most commonly selected ordering options and can be adjusted at any time. Options that cannot be combined are automatically reset by the system, and a corresponding notice is displayed, for example when folding and mounting are selected together.

Description of the configuration options

Scale

Scaling allows you to specify whether a file should be enlarged or reduced.

Please note that a surcharge applies if the scale is changed. You should therefore not select a scaling option if your file is already in the required final format.

Example: A PDF file is already in A4 format and A4 scaling is selected as well. In this case, the system interprets this as a change of scale and unnecessarily applies a surcharge.

When you do not know the final format of the file, we recommend adding a note in the comments field during the final ordering step, such as: “Please print all files in A4 format.

Media

The available print media depend on the selected product. Not every print medium can be combined with every finishing option.

Color mode

By default, all prints are produced in colour. Black-and-white printing can be selected if required.

Finishing

Various finishing and post-processing options are available under “Finishing”.

Folding A4

Standard DIN A4 folding for plans. Plans in A3 format are folded in half.

Rolled

Large-format plans are supplied rolled around a cardboard tube. Small-format documents remain unfolded.

Stitching edge foldling

Plans are folded to a width of 19 cm. The final panel includes a 2 cm filing margin on the left-hand side. A3 documents are folded using a Z-fold with a corresponding filing margin.

Filing strips

The documents are folded to A4 as standard. A transparent, punched filing strip is then attached to the left-hand side, allowing the documents to be filed directly in a binder.

Laminating

Plans or small-format documents are sealed in plastic film for protection.

Punching

When documents need to be punched, we recommend also selecting folding with a filing margin. Without this folding option, the holes are punched through the entire document stack rather than exclusively through the filing margin.

Heften (Stapling)

Small-format documents are stapled in the top-left corner as standard.

For the product “CAD plans with small-format attachments”, this option can be selected for the entire order. In this case, only the small-format documents are stapled automatically.

Mounting

Plots can be mounted on various backing materials and can optionally be fitted with protective film or hanging systems.

Not every print medium is suitable for mounting. We therefore recommend retaining the default paper selection proposed for this finishing option.

Please note that mounted or laminated prints require a longer production time. Express and same-day orders are therefore not available for these finishes.

Protective film

This option is available exclusively for mounted prints.

When plans or small-format documents need to be sealed in plastic film, please select the “Laminating” finishing option instead.

Hanging system

This option applies exclusively to prints mounted on rigid boards. Depending on your requirements, different hanging systems can be selected, such as drilled holes, hangers or comparable fixing systems.
